Carlos Baliño mill, Cuban sugarcane processor located in Villa Clara province, has delivered 2.9 tonnes of organic sugar to the local market this season, 46% of the total volume planned for this harvest, according to the news website for Radio Habana Cuba.

Carlos Baliño mill plans to deliver 6.39 million tonnes of organic sugar to the Cuban domestic market this season.

Frank Alberto Ocampo, one of the company managers, said the company is doing an intense job to fulfill its commitment to deliver sugar to the country, despite the obstacles posed by nature. Sugarcane fields in the regions are suffering from excess of humidity due to persistent rains that have affected the quality of the raw material, resulting in low productivity.

Despite that, Ocampo said that the organic sugar produced so far this season meets all the international standards for quality.
