BOLIVIA: Sugar producers in Santa Cruz region may export 4.2 million quintals

Representatives of sugarcane mills in Bolivia's Santa Cruz region will meet the minister of Productive Development, Eugenio Rojas, on Friday to discuss potential exports of 4.2 million quintals of sugar abroad, according to Bolivia's El Deber news website.
"We are going to have a meeting with the industry to analyze how we can help them to export, and to which countries," he said, adding that the industry should also produce "a little more alcohol".
There are 156,563 hectares of planted sugarcane in Santa Cruz, 9,443 hectares in Tarija and 3,314 hectares in La Paz, according to official data.
The country is expected to produce 12.2 million quintals of sugar, 92 million litres of anhydrous ethanol and 112 million of ethyl alcohol this year. The industry has 2.4 million quintals of sugar.
