Representatives of Brazil's largest sugarcane processing companies reelected Elizabeth Farina as president of the national sugarcane industry association UNICA in a general meeting held Tuesday (15), in São Paulo, reports Sugaronline.

Farina will remain in the post until 2020, when new elections will take place, UNICA said in a statement published on its website.

Pedro Mizutani was also reelected chairman of UNICA's Deliberative Council.

Farina said “it makes sense” that there have been only a few changes in the composition of the board, as UNICA's members are working to help regulate and implement RenovaBio, Brazil's national policy to improve consumption of ethanol and other biofuels in the country.

Farina has been president at UNICA since 2012. Mizutani, who is also vice president of Strategy and External Relations at Raízen, has been leading UNICA's Deliberative Council since 2016.
