Mexico's antitrust agency is initiating an investigation into allegations of monopolistic practices in the national sugar industry, the government said it in its official gazette on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

The Federal Commission for Economic Competition, or Cofece, will probe evidence presented to the regulator relating to suspected anti-competitive practices in the production, distribution and sale of sugar in Mexico, it said.

The government did not provide details of the case or say who was under investigation, as is customary.
